Ellen Hunt, Senior Vice President, Audit, Ethics & Compliance Officer at AARP has been named a 2019 Trust Across America Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. Trust Across America was established in 2009 following the Global Financial Crisis. With a mission “to help enhance trustworthy behavior in organizations,” Trust Across America created the annual Top Thought Leaders in Trust awards which distinguishes those individuals who recognize and foster “organizational trust.” Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are those individuals who have been honored as a Top Thought Leader in Trust for five years and “whose work elevates societal trust.”
Collaborator and colleague Donna Boehme, Principal of Compliance Strategists, welcomes Ms. Hunt into the Trust Community and congratulates her on being a 2019 Lifetime Achievement Honoree. According to Ms. Boehme, “Ellen has been a key part of my compliance and ethics senior thought circle and a strong contributor to the world-renowned RAND Symposia series on Compliance and Ethics and I am looking forward to her contributions to the Trust conversation and communities.”
Ms. Hunt’s vast experience, accumulated over fifteen years as a compliance executive, includes handling regulatory agency inquiries as well as investigations, governing enterprise risk processes, creating and executing ethics education programs, and administering ethics and compliance programs for large corporations, as well as reporting and advising the Board of Directors. In SAI Global’s Six Questions with an Ethics and Compliance Officer, Ms. Hunt opened up about her thought process and ethical decision making as she discussed the importance of mental agility, independence, empathy, and positive intent.
In addition to being a 2019 honoree for a Lifetime Achievement award by Trust Across America, Ms. Hunt has been shortlisted for the 2019 Women in Compliance Award for Compliance Officer of the Year in Non-for-Profit Organizations. In 2018 Ms. Hunt was named as one of the Top 100 Thought Leaders for Trustworthy Business as well as being featured as a Top Mind by Compliance Week in June of 2016. She is a contributor to Trust, Inc., A Guide for Boards & C-Suites and has appeared on the cover of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics magazine. In 2015 Ms. Hunt was interviewed for a column over compliance and ethics by The Wall Street Journal, The Maturation of Ethics and Compliance at AARP.
Ms. Hunt is very deserving of this honor, as she has dedicated her career to fostering trust and ethical decision making. She consistently designs, implements and operates outstanding ethics and compliance programs to the benefit of not only the organizations she represents but for the entire compliance industry. Ms. Hunt has consistently valued the importance of ethics and trust when designing organizational programs which advise executives and employees alike on making ethical decisions.
