Corporate America is bracing for more rules, regulations, and compliance obligations coming from Washington. That means ethics and compliance officers will face fresh challenges in their endless quest to make their companies’ compliance programs “effective.”
At a recent forum of compliance executives held by the Rand Center for Corporate Ethics and Governance in Arlington, Va., many were thrilled that the prospect of stronger government support for corporate integrity and ethics. But they also worried about whether the government’s compliance expectations will be overly prescriptive and how corporate compliance executives can ensure their efforts are not merely window dressing.
